Can my boss make me pay for a short till?

Everytime our till is short we have to pay the difference. Is that allowed?

Yes, this is perfectly legal, and in fact it's standard practice at many companies. The only thing your company CAN'T do is take it out of you pay, unless you've given them written permission to do so. However, if they ask you to pay up and you don't, they can legally fire you + sue you for the unpaid amount. Sorry, I just know this isn't the answer you wanted to hear, however, it IS the correct one. |
