    controling boss

I recently left a large, well paying job because i felt it was an impersonal environment,

to work for a business which consists of only 2 guys in partnership.

they both seemed great as I knew them before i accepted the job and they seemed keen for me to join there small business, but after i started one of the bosses has started getting very controling raising his voice for me to close doors, put things back, dont do this ,do that, buy him coffee, and then replies with a sarcastic thank you.

sometimes he swares at me or says things like if the thing hes is working on goes wrong he'll kick me in the (you know where)

We started of being good mates, going to the pub and doing things together, thats why i thaught it would be a great place to work but now i find im not invited to there after work drinks or BBQ.

One day I got tyred of him picking on me and told him my mind ,and for a few weeks things were great again but now its back to the usual routine,

we are all about 35 y old and each have 20 years expariance so i hate being treated like an apprentice.

    the other bossis great!

    does anyone know a solution???

Reply: I think the only solution is to NOT tolerate being treated like this. These people do not have the right to do this but sometimes we allow them to treat us like this because we feel like we owe them or that they are superior to us in some way. If you do not speak up to defend your self, it sends a message that you are weak. A lot of people are afraid of confrontation with another person and especially with a boss so they take the abuse. You don't have to. You can speak up for yourself and back them down. These people that want to control us, they want to control all aspects of their lives, personal and work. That crap may work at home with family, but it shouldn't fly at the work place. I see that a lot of managers and supervisors get a big head when they are put in a position of power which makes the problem worse. If you can't resolve it, move on.
