Does anyone know how to handle a supervisor that had YOUR new job previously and won't let go?

Reply: the critical issue is why did the previous supervisor leave?? I walked into a situation where the previous supervisor applied for a lower paying job, and as the new supervisor I now supervise him. First thing that I did was listen to him ... listen, validate, call upon him for advice, set new goals for the former supervisor, and move on.

Reply: Fun, isn't it? I've had to deal with this for the past two years..it has gradually gotten better but her presence still looms on the horizon and (in her passive aggressive ways) she gets her digs in every once in a while. You could try talking with this person and get this all out on the table. Didn't work for me (she denied it being an issue) but is worth a try. good luck

Reply: I have been in the situation where I was the presence stuck looming in the horizon. Sometimes we want to let go but can't get away!
